THE BIRTH OF “TSUGU”

It all starts with pristine water purified by the land of Koshiji. This is combined with the highest quality sake brewing rice cultivated by Koshiji’s ideal climate. History and heritage have been handed down over generations in the nature-loving, hometown of sake. “TSUGU” is a supreme tanrei-karakuchi sake, made in the great conditions of Koshiji, combined with the best sake brewing techniques of Asahi-Shuzo. TSUGU has a soft and rich aroma, delicate but deep flavor and a beautifully lingering aftertaste. We hope you will enjoy the flavors unraveled by each sip.
  • AN IDEAL ENVIRONMENT GIFTED FROM HEAVEN

The Koshiji region of Nagaoka City, Niigata prefecture, where the sake brewery of Asahi-Shuzo is located, has an ideal environment for sake brewing, with abundant ground water in addition to perfect climate and conditions for cultivating rice. Since its establishment in Koshiji in 1830, Asahi-Shuzo has benefitted from an abundance of nature that other brewers cannot imitate, to produce sake which cannot be brewed anywhere else.
  • “KUBOTA” BORN FROM SAKE HERITAGE AND CHALLENGER SPIRIT

Sake brewing became a way of life for the people of Koshiji, and its heritage and skills have been handed down over generations. Asahi-Shuzo has a challenger spirit, not accepting things as they are, but always in pursuit of brewing the best Japanese sake. “KUBOTA” was created in 1985 in a small region of Niigata known as the hometown of sake, and with its unrivaled flavor, has become a sake brand appreciated by consumers around the world.
  • OUR TANREI-KARAKUCHI IS “FOREVER INCOMPLETE”

“Rich tastes are not true flavor; true flavor is light on the palate.” Asahi-Shuzo’s view on “tanrei-karakuchi” has become our philosophy, and inspires our eternal pursuit of true flavors. So as long as there is room for improvement, our professionals of sake brewing will continue to pursue creating an ideal tanrei-karakuchi sake.
  • EVERY MEMBER OF THE COMMUNITY IS A MEMBER OF OUR SAKE BREWING

Asahi-Shuzo’s environmental protection activities have spread out to the community, and have helped preserve the natural environment of “the hometown of sake.” We work to protect fireflies, which are a natural indication of the purity of water in Koshiji. We also present maple tree seedlings to local schools to help nurture Koshiji children’s love of nature.
